Originally from Greenlawn, NY, Alex Saltz developed his passion for music and audio as a teen in the 80's. He drummed in bands, took apart electronics, helped family and friends pick out stereo systems and worked in consumer audio sales. Later, he studied music and sound engineering at SUNY Fredonia and communication design at Parsons School of Design.

As a sound engineer, he began Off-Broadway at Intar Theater and American Place Theater, where he ran music and sound effects during performances. Soon after, he took jobs as a production assistant and boom mic operator on films and videos for Sesame Street, MTV and VH1.

As an assistant engineer / producer, and drummer, he was involved in sessions at New York studios such as Westrax Studios, Sorcerer Sound, Eastside Sound, Smash Studios and Pilot Recording Studios.

Further freelance engineering work for Tonemaster Studios, NJ, and Masterdisk, NYC, helped him gain insight into the tricks of the trade.

With varied experiences as a musician and sound engineer, and high standards for fidelity, Alex established APS Mastering in 1996. Since then, he has focused on the integrity of his work and has built lasting relationships with his clients.
